At this point in my singing career, I sing without much thought to the many minute happenings in my vocal apparatus. What I mean by that is that when you get to a certain stage, you don't have to think too much about it, as it just works automatically and as it should. But sometimes little changes happen and you find you need to go about things differently to maintain proper balance. I have discovered a nifty new tool for keeping freedom and openness as I sing. A kazoo. Yes, you heard it, a kazoo! With this crazy little instrument I can easily sing up, down, and all around and then translate that feeling to my regular vocalizations. Who knew! The trick is to stay as relaxed in the throat during regular singing as you are when using the kazoo. It excellent!
